What you’ll learn in six units

This pre-intermediate English course is for adults who can already use simple English. Start with what you know, learn useful words and build longer answers. Take each unit at your own pace.

Unit 1

People and everyday life

Describe people and their personalities. Use have and has, and talk about someone important to you.

Unit 2

Free time and longer answers

Talk about your routine and hobbies. Join your ideas with and, but, because and so to give longer answers.

Unit 3

Past experiences

Use the past simple to talk about things you did. Describe a day out or a trip and say how you felt.

Unit 4

Tell a story

Describe what was happening in the past. Put events in order and write a short, simple story.

Unit 5

Travel and information

Ask about a journey, give directions and write a polite message asking for information.

Unit 6

Future plans

Talk about plans with will and going to. Make arrangements and write an email with a day, time and place.

Questions about A2 Everyday English

Is this course right for me?

This course is for adults who already know some basic English. If you can introduce yourself and use simple sentences about your life, A2 helps you say more. You’ll practise past experiences, stories, travel and future plans.

What is included in the course?

You get six units with vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening practice, interactive activities, and writing and guided speaking tasks. Model answers and checklists help you review your work.

Do I need to finish A1 first?

You can start here if you already know the basics. You do not need to take our A1 course first. If simple introductions and everyday sentences still feel new, A1 English Foundations is a good place to begin.

How long does the course take?

There is no fixed timetable. Work through the six units at your own pace. Spend more time on a topic when you need it, and return to a lesson for more practice.

Are there live lessons?

This is a self-study course. You practise independently and use model answers and checklists to review your writing and speaking. Live lessons and individual teacher marking are not included.

How do I return to my course?

Sign in to your Ace English account and open My Learning. Your course and saved progress will be there when you’re ready to continue.

What does A2 level mean?

A2 is pre-intermediate level. This course helps you use A2 English through the six everyday topics shown above. You’ll build on the basics, practise longer answers and prepare for more learning.
