-ed and -ing Adjectives

Adding -ed or -ing to the end of adjectives helps us to talk about feelings.

Each ending has their own meaning.

In this lesson, you’ll learn which ending to use and practise using them.

When to use -ed and -ing?

-ed

Add -ed to describe people’s feelings and emotions.

-ing

Add -ing to talk about how other things make you feel.
Use -ing for things which don’t have feelings.

I am bored = I feel bored.

I am boring = I make other people feel bored.

Examples

1. I am excited.

2. The film is interesting.

3. Maths is confusing.
