Inversion

• Invert the subject and auxiliary verb after the adverb
• If there is no auxiliary verb in original sentence, add ‘do, does, did’

Passive Reporting Verbs

• Used to report beliefs and opinions
• There are 2 main structures
• It + passive verb + that + clause
• Subject + passive verb + to + infinitive
• Common reporting verbs: believe, think, claim, report, consider, say, know, expect

• Express reason for writing and what the complaint is
• Give reasons and/or evidence for the complaint
• Request a solution for the complaint
• Formal ending
