Nominalisation

  • Usage: Used to turn verbs or adjectives into nouns to make speech or writing sound cleaner and more professional.
  • Structure: Noun phrase (the intense focus/a lack of) + verb + object

Connectors (Albeit / Insofar as / Much as)

  • Usage: Used to contrast points or set boundaries on a statement without sounding repetitive or using basic words like ‘but’ or ‘although’.
  • Structure: Main clause + connector + clause OR connector + clause, clause

 

Examples

His sudden departure caught the entire team off guard.
The holiday was wonderful, albeit far too short.
Much as I want to help you, I simply don't have the time today.
