Jessica: Have you seen what they’ve done with that old abandoned car park on Miller Street?
Liam: No, I haven’t been down that way for months. Is it still an eyesore?
Jessica: Not at all! A local community group turned it into an Urban Garden. It’s brilliant. They’ve built these huge wooden planters where anyone can grow vegetables or flowers.
Liam: That sounds great, but doesn’t it just get vandalised?
Jessica: You’d think so, but because the local residents feel a sense of ownership over it, they really look after it. They even have a tool library where you can borrow shovels and gloves.
Liam: I love that idea. I’ve got a tiny balcony with no space for plants, so I’d love to grow some tomatoes there.
Jessica: You should definitely sign up. They’re holding a workshop this Saturday on how to compost in the city. It’s free, but you have to book a spot online.
