Future Tenses in British English

Future tenses show us when an action will happen.

There are 12 tenses altogether.

In this lesson, you’ll learn the future simple and future continuous tenses and practise using them.

What are future simple and continuous tenses?

A future tense shows us an action that hasn’t happened yet but might happen soon.

Future Simple

  • An action that might or might not happen in the future.
  • Use will + infinitive verb

Future Continuous

  • Shows an ongoing action in the future
  • Use will + be + verb-ing

Examples

I will see my friends later.
He will be going on holiday soon.
She will start her new job next week.
