  • Structure: Negative phrase + auxiliary verb + subject + base verb

  • Usage: Used constantly in everyday British business settings to describe actions naturally.
  • Back up – support a theory
  • Get to grips with – deal with a difficult situation
  • Ended up – reach a final result

Examples

1. Not only did he arrive late, but he also forgot his notes.
